Week 7 Waiver Wire Report
/Wide Receivers were all the rage this week with injuries and breakout performances bringing the spotlight on some free agents.
Andy dropped $25 to swap out Coopers, bringing in Omar Cooper Jr. and dropping former FA darling Darius Cooper. Omar looked great against the Patriots but I am nervous about what happens when Adonai Mitchell comes back and I also don’t know if Garrett Wilson will have another game as quiet as his one against the Pats.
Johnny opted to use his $25 on Antonio Williams, who could see an uptick in action now that Touchdown Terry McLaurin seems like he could be done for a while.
The most popular target of the week was Demario Douglas, who was won by The Gentleman by just one dollar over Rahul. The Gentleman was quick to banish Brandin Cooks to the waiver wire after he came up small on Monday Night and couldn’t secure a victory for The Gentleman who is now on the outside of the playoffs.
Eli whiffed on the previous three targets but finally lands his man with Jordan Tyson in the second one dollar win of the week. This time, it was Bernie who was a dollar short. Tyson is an interesting option but Eli is setting himself up for frustration as he now has to choose which Saints WR he wants to play as he also has DeVaughn Vele.
The weirdest part of Eli coming up short on the first three WR targets is that he then turned around and was this week’s highest unrivaled bid. In perhaps the most shocking single digit waiver wire bid in history, Eli offered up $9 to bring back Brian Thomas Jr., a man he boasted about dropping and being proven correct in getting rid of. Apparently, Eli foresees a trade in BTJ’s future but one has to ask - how much of the problem was Jacksonville and how much of it was that BTJ just isn’t good at football?
But Eli wasn’t done! Possibly in honor of the LAX people mover being delayed once again with rather significant structural issues, Eli pulled off the rare feat of having the top two unrivaled FA bids, spending 7 dollars on Roschon Johnson, who will be relevant as long as Kyle Monangai is out.
BUT ELI ISN’T DONE YET! Well, he was done winning bids but this time, it’s noteworthy because he lost what he hailed as one of the best feelings in fantasy football, winning a bid because you have the higher waiver priority. Both he and Johnny bid 6 dollars to land Kendrick Bourne, who quietly could end up being the best waiver wire pickup of the week.
Mark, coming off of his first victory of the year, decided to pickup a hot chick as he won this week’s third 1 dollar win, taking home Jordyn Brooks, who I probably would have bid on had I noticed he was a free agent. Are things looking up for Mark?
Andy swapped out TEs, dropping Mark Andrews for Colby Parkinson. I can’t believe the Ravens are paying Andrews the same amount of money that the Giants are paying Isaiah Likely. Who thought that was a good idea?
Mark continued his moral victories by bringing home Corey Kiner. who took over the crunch time carries last week and might eat into TreVeyon Henderson’s carries, which I can’t complain about because Henderson continues to get blown up in the backfield more often than not.
Eric won himself a kicker! After suffering his first loss (albeit a non-Top 9 finish L) last week, Nico now comes up short on the waiver wire. The air of invincibility is lifting!
Apparently Brett is an ass man because he coveted a piece of two crowded backfields this week, adding James Conner and Tyrone Tracy Jr. I’m a boob man myself but I applaud both of these moves because they have potential upside.
Andy swapped in a new IDP but maintained his cool name quotient, getting Budda Baker for Frankie Luvu.
Derek got caught with a Hooker and has some ‘Spillane-ing to do! Does it count as a hooker if you spend zero dollars? Besides adding Amani Hooker (and dropping Robert Spillane) on a zero bid, Sadat X also swapped TEs, bringing in Chig Okonkwo who might finally do something now that Touchdown Terry is banged up.
Finally, we have Yurk improving his name game with Henry To’oto’o. I propose he change his name to Clay Says Shi’ii’iit.
Derek was once again this week’s early riser, waking up at 3am to pick up TJ Hockenson and Dane Belton.
Great job staying active everyone! The Waiver Wire is getting thin but we’re still finding some gems out there. Or, at least, we’re finding guys who we convince ourselves are worth spending money on.
