Week 8 Waiver Wire Report
/The Waiver Wire is so thin that Eli made two bids at Quentin Johnston. Let’s see how things shook out.
The Veep brought home the big money item of the week, Brenton Strange. The move also included him dropping Jake Ferguson which I appreciate since it will stop me from predicting that every week will be the week that the Dak/Fergie stack would pay dividends.
The most popular name on the waiver wire was the hardest to pronounce - Foyesade Oluokun - who was won by The Gentleman by one dollar over Yurk, who now has to face the power of Oluokun this week.
Eli’s love of boom-or-bust receivers will never wane as he made this week’s biggest unnecessary bid, spending $5 on Dontayvion Wicks, who nobody else, not even Eagles die hard Brett, bothered to put a bid in on.
Andy bested his Dandyelion partner by three bucks and brought home and Ken doll. Oh, sorry, that would be Kendal Daniels, someone I’ve never heard of before. Andy then outbid Eli again for Eli for Quincy Williams, who I have heard of before but I completely forgot that he wasn’t on the Jets anymore.
Eli finally was able to turn the tables on Andy and outbid him for someone, landing Quay Walker although Andy didn’t have the roster spot for Quay anymore after winning the first two bids so is it really a win?
Eli was back on the losing end of IDP bidding, getting snaked by Bernie for Isaiah McDuffie. I guess the two a Isaiah is the “correct” way to spell it but I always think of Isiah Thomas’s spelling as the more common spelling. Have I mentioned this before? I feel like I have.
Nico went Bass fishing and yoinked the Bills kicker away from Derek who couldn’t be bothered to spend $1 on him. The ever-panicky Nico spent $5.
Eli, a man of action this week, completed his flurry of pickups, adding what I believe to be a league leading four pickups in one week by adding Christian Ellis and Treylon Burks. Eli understands that his season is casting a real shadow of doubt on the merit of being a Hall of Famer so he’s trying everything to right the sinking Borts ship.
In a real Barner-burner, Johnny best Yurk by 1 dollar to zero for AJ Barner.
Mark, still sticking with his penalty name despite finally winning, needs a replacement QB so should his name now be I Got Penixed at Chicas Bonitas? Although a Penixing sounds like something that would happen at Chicos Guapos.
New league leader Brendan didn’t have much to do this week and was happy to just pickup Minkah Fitzpatrick for free.
Eli probably broke the record for most players bid on in one week as he put zero bids on three more players. Although despite all of these moves, he still doesn’t have a kicker.
Johnny ended up dropping Deforest Buckner for Byron Young. Did he put this bid in before or after Buckner got traded to the Niners?
Finally, I Got My Penix Touched At Chicas Bonitas picked up former Patriot draft pick Chad Ryland. Mark probably picked up the two highest scoring additions of the week and spent a grand total of zero dollars to do it.
Derek was once again the league’s early riser, logging in at 6:38 to drop Dominic Zvada, who I believe had a five episode run on Melrose Place in the late 90’s, and added the more boringly named Jason Sanders. But kudos to Derek for refusing to go after kickers outside of NY state.
