Friday Factoid 9/5

The Gentleman is aiming to serve up a fun fact or two every Friday.

NFL = NO FRIDAY (NIGHT) LIGHTS

The NFL has a rare Friday game this week. Why don’t they schedule more Friday games? Because of the United States Congress!

“The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961withdrew antitrust immunity for any pro football telecast if a high school or college football game is being played within 75 miles (120 km) of the broadcasting station on Friday nights (after 6:00 p.m.) and Saturdays from the second Friday in September until the second Saturday in December. In practice since many College and High School Football teams are located near broadcast stations and most college and high school football games are played on Friday nights or Saturdays, the NFL does not schedule and play games on Friday Nights and Saturdays during the time period."
